Jewelry Bling of the Day – Star Sapphire

Love the way the sun brings out the star in my star sapphire ring today!

I bought this ring is a hole-in-a-wall jewelry shop in Taiwan back in Summer’ 08. I love sapphires and wanted a star sapphire for what seems like forever. When I saw this ring, I knew it can’t be a real star sapphire, seeing as a quality star sapphire stone costs around 6k and this ring retailed for around 100. But I thought it’ll stand in nicely until I can afford a real star sapphire stone. And it really do, especially on sunny days like this when the star shines so gorgeously!

P.S.: Ignore the awful nails. I was trying to recreate cherry blossom nails and once again proved that I need to pay other people to do my nail art.

  1. Hi Ylise, I too fell in love with a star sapphire over 40 years ago. My boyfriend at the time wanted to give me a friendship ring. I chose a sterling silver blue stone ring from a shop window display for under $100 and was quite surprised to see the beautiful star appear as I wore it out of the shop as it caught the sunlight.
I had the ring remodelled into a engagement ring 5 years later and still wear it today even though the marriage did not last past 31 years. It is my most treasured procession because of its living and enlightning qualities.
Reading your story has helped me decide what gift I would love my loveones to get me for my 60th birthday.
Can you help me find more
    Regards
    Dianne

    • Hi Dianne,

Thank you for sharing your story! Unfortunately, I do not know specifically where else one can find a star sapphire. I would try your local jewelry stores, they occasionally may have a stone.
